Nour. In a nutshell.
Hi! My name is Nour Jabra. I am an Entrepreneur turned Product Designer.
Ever since I was young, I loved designing novel products and prototypes. I remember my first ever invention - a steam-activated hairbrush that could straighten all hair types (I was thinking about inclusivity, even at the age of 9!)
⏩ Fast-forward to 2023 when Remington, Babyliss and L’Oreal are selling these brushes like hotcakes.
I loved making digital collages on Paint, playing with composition & typography and re-designing magazine layouts in my sketchbook.
As a teenager, I became a champion debater, and relied heavily on solid research to create my arguments. I loved seeing the look on my opponents faces as I’d stand on the podium and start cross-examining them like there’s no tomorrow - I found myself captivated with the thrill of public speaking.
Needless to say, I don’t cross-examine users today - I’ve evolved into an empathetic interviewer that can create space to share, learn and connect.
So, with my creative nature and analytical mind, I went into my first startup at the age of 21 after telling my parents I’d take a break from university to focus on turning it into a unicorn 🦄. I was happy to have uncovered my passion for Product Design and UX as early as 2013, when many people didn’t know what it was.
A year later, the startup didn’t quite work out, and with my tail between my legs, I returned to university to complete my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.
I co-founded a social enterprise in 2017 that was born from my belief that we have enough doctors, lawyers and architects in the Middle East. I wanted to see more young people enter tech and creative fields because I believed our society could create amazing digital products that would enable our economy to become competitive. And so I launched an online career guidance platform that connected students to successful professionals in order to send the message: “Trust your instinct, follow your own path - you create your own reality.”
We built the platform, scaled it and I reached a point in my career where I was ready to take on new challenges - bigger products, fiercer industries, new methodologies and perspectives. I started working at a design agency in London and unleashed the creative spirit that was yearning to emerge. I learned to love the process, and it helped me break down complex problems in industries I never thought I’d be interested in. I transformed “traditional” into “innovative” and I’ve fallen in love with this mindset.
I am now looking for an amazing opportunity to grow with a company that’s hungry for innovation in product design.
I’m especially interested in opportunities related to FashionTech, Sustainability, Music Streaming, The Metaverse and working with companies that want to become leaders.
Looking forward to hearing from you! ❤️🔥
